For the last few years, we have run the Contest Season Pass system which required each competitor in a BABS contest to pay £5 to perform on the contest stage.

Having heard feedback from our contestants, clubs, and volunteers, we are planning to replace the Contest Season Pass system with a much simpler Contest Entry Fee, payable by each ensemble rather than by individuals.

Group Type Entry Fee
Quartet £20
Senior Quartet £20
Youth Quartet £10
Small Chorus (12-25 on stage) £100
Medium Chorus (26-50 on stage) £175
Large Chorus (51 or more on stage) £250

Please note: Clubs must ensure that these amounts are paid by income on which Gift Aid has not been claimed.

FAQs

What happens if the number of singers on stage changes after we enter?

Choruses will pay according to how many singers you have at the time of contest entry, unless there is a significant change in numbers. The decision of the BABS Finance Director will be final.

How does this affect BABS’s revenue?

We are aiming to keep revenue roughly the same as it was for Contest Season Passes.

Is there a discount/adjustment for members singing in multiple quartets/choruses?

No - there is no adjustment for dual members

When is payment due?

Invoices will be sent shortly after the ensemble submits their contest entry. Invoices are generally payable within 30 days, but please check the payment terms on your invoice. Payments should be made by bank transfer.

If we're a Youth Quartet but also compete in the National Quartet Contest, what fee do we pay?

In that case you would pay the fee for the National Quartet Contest (£20).
