We are asking all registered BABS clubs to appoint a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging Representative. This role can be moulded to fit your club's needs and is a great step towards creating an inclusive space.

The person nominated should ideally have a commitment to promoting Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, be a good listener, and be sensitive to marginalised issues. The goal of the representative should be to ensure that all members of the club feel a strong sense of belonging.

The BABS DEI&B Team will be there to support the club representatives with training, dedicated forums, and direct advice where necessary.

Job Title: Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (DEI&B) Representative

Responsible to: Committee (optional)

Responsibilities can include but are not limited to the following:

  • Being the designated person to listen to, pass on, and deal with DEI&B concerns from members of the club
  • Supporting individual needs of members (with the help of the club's committee and BABS DEI&B Team)
  • Promoting DEI&B within the club
  • Supporting club recruitment in a diverse and inclusive manner
  • Highlighting (possibly in link with the club's marketing team) what the club is already doing in terms of inclusive practices and promoting it as a welcoming space
  • Supporting the Music Team in researching and selecting songs mindfully
  • If necessary, creating a DEI&B sub-committee for the club
  • If necessary, adapting BABS DEI&B template policy for the club
  • Advising on updates to the club's constitution or rules to be more inclusive
  • Keeping up to date with BABS DEI&B updates
  • Attending BABS DEI&B forums (to share experiences with other DEI&B reps) and suggested training on DEI&B topics
