The BIC is now working according to upcoming legislation regarding security of public premises and events (The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, also known as Martyn’s Law).

Event Passes and Session Wristbands

Security around the venue will be strict, particularly when checking Event Passes and Session Wristbands. You must wear your own Event Pass or Session Wristband at all times.

On first arrival at the venue, after the bag check, you will be directed to BABS reception to obtain your Event Pass. Lanyards are available for purchase, or you can use your own. If you have pre-purchased your ticket, give your name at BABS reception and they can provide your Event Pass. Otherwise, you can purchase your Event Pass, also at BABS reception.

Luggage Identification

We are asking you to take the following measures to help speed up the process of bag searches, and to ensure safety regarding unattended luggage in changing rooms and bag drop areas.

All items of luggage, including suit carriers, rucksacks, holdalls, sports bags etc within the BIC must be clearly labelled with your name on a luggage tag.

For consistency, we recommend clubs purchase and attach white security tags, available cheaply from Amazon at this link. Please avoid using alternative colours.

The Contest Cycle

  • Contestants must wear their Full Weekend Event Pass throughout the contest cycle, except during their performance
  • Your courier will collect your Event Passes at an appropriate time before you go on stage
  • When not wearing an Event Pass, you must remain with a BABS Courier
  • After your performance, you must collect your Event Pass from the designated collection point backstage

Other Notes

  • For your safety and security, the Front-of-House and Security staff will be instructed to direct anyone not wearing the appropriate Event Pass or wristband to the BABS reception desk to be checked.
  • Security and Front-of-House staff may ask you to move away from emergency exits, stairways, or some lobby areas. Please be respectful and follow their instructions.
  • Please be respectful to the BIC and BABS teams who are managing your safety while at convention. They all want you to have an enjoyable and safe experience
  • Access to the venue can be slower at busy periods, or when large groups arrive. Please allow extra time to go through the security check.
  • Being prepared in advance with the advised security measures (particularly regarding luggage tags) helps mitigate the impact of bag searches, reducing delays
  • Please follow the directions of BIC Security staff at all times.
