What We Do
At the British Association of Barbershop Singers (BABS), we celebrate the art of barbershop harmony through a variety of initiatives designed to educate, entertain, and unite our community.
Education and Workshops
We offer a range of educational programs and workshops to help singers of all skill levels improve their vocal techniques and performance skills. Our expert-led sessions cover everything from vocal technique to conducting, arranging, leadership, and performance.
Competitions and Conventions
Our annual conventions and competitions provide a platform for choruses and quartets to showcase their talents. These events are a highlight of the barbershop calendar, fostering camaraderie and friendly competition among participants.
Community and Support
BABS supports over 1,600 members and 60 registered choruses across the UK. We provide resources, grants, and networking opportunities to help our members grow and succeed in their barbershop endeavours.
In addition, all registered choruses and quartets benefit from public liability insurance, as well as a vast library of resources and access to education and support, through our partnership with Making Music.
Global Barbershop Community
As an Alliance Organization of the Barbershop Harmony Society (barbershop.org), we are part of a global community dedicated to promoting barbershop music. This affiliation allows us to connect with international barbershop singers and participate in worldwide events and initiatives.
